Think of domains as the names of your website. A short, easy-to-remember name is much more likely to attract visitors. For instance, cars.co.za is more likely to get traffic than whattocallmydomain.co.za. Consider this: if you can remember it without trying, it’s ideal. Hyphens or dashes in a domain aren’t recommended because they can make it difficult for search engines like Google to find. Businesses find it simpler because they can simply use their business name followed by .co.za or .com. For example, if I’m a farmer in the North West and my farm is called Goldcrest Valley Farm, I could use goldcrest.co.za or goldcrest.com. The reason the valley is left out is to keep it as short as possible without breaking any words into parts. Top level domains or TLDs are the ending to your domain like .co.za or .com. .co.za is the national recognised South African one where .com is the universal one.
